B2B Lead Scoring Template for Small Exporters
Score leads before you write cold emails. This simple workflow helps small exporters, consultants, and B2B operators contact fewer but better-fit prospects.
The five fields to score before outreach
Industry fit
Does this company actually buy or use what you sell?
Geography fit
Can you realistically serve this market or route?
Buying trigger
Is there a reason to talk now, not someday?
Role match
Is this contact close to sourcing, buying, or operations?
Personalization quality
Can you write a specific first line without guessing?
Use an 18-point threshold
Give each field a score from 1 to 5, then add the five scores. As a starting rule, write cold emails only for leads scoring 18 or higher out of 25. Leads under that threshold should be researched further or left out of the first outreach batch.
| Score | Meaning | Action |
|---|---|---|
| 5 | Strong evidence of fit | Prioritize |
| 3 | Possible fit, but unclear | Research more |
| 1 | Weak or guessed fit | Skip for now |
Manual scoring comes before automation
Automation is useful after the pattern is proven. If you automate too early, you usually scale weak targeting, weak personalization, and weak follow-up. Start with 20 leads. Score them manually. Write emails only for the top five.
- Add 20 companies to the sheet.
- Score all five fields for each lead.
- Pick the top five leads by fit score.
- Write a specific first-touch email for each one.
- Track replies and update the next follow-up date.
